TerraData Unmanned

Mining & Aggregates

We provide your team with precise data to include: stockpile measurements, cut/fill calculations, blast volume measurements, and other mine operations needs.

Mining & Aggregates (aka Volume Analysis) : General Information

The mining and aggregates field is a constantly changing environment, and TerraData understands that stock quantities are far more than figures on an inventory form. Whether your needs include pile measurements, bin measurements, or custom area measurements, TerraData is outfitted to deliver.

TerraData works hand-in-hand with our customers to find solutions to tailored inventory management plans, help identify causes for discrepancies, and perform field audits to identify issues and develop best practices for managing inventories. If a client has any questions about their stockpile measurements, we will spend the necessary time showing them how their stockpiles and overall site have changed.

TerraData is the industry leader in stockpile measurement and inventory management to the mining and aggregate industries in the Southeast United States. We provide your company an unbiased third party measurement service for inventory, estimation, and overburden removal. We also provide key operational insights to manage your site, such as Digital Elevation Models, ortho imagery, and virtual flythroughs, for planning and management purposes.

Many customers need their data collected during fixed timeframes in order for there to be as little adverse effect to productivity as possible and a definite answer regarding where material was located on the site during data collection. TerraData is here to respond to those requirements and deliver a worry and care free service with little to no impact on production. Additionally, we understand that safety is paramount during operations on our customers’ facilities, and that is why all TerraData operators are FAA Part 107 licensed, insured, and Mine Safety and Health Administration certified.

You need accurate, up-to-date data to make important management decisions throughout the year. An inaccurate accounting of what you have could lead to significant profit loss.

By focusing solely on the Southeast US and using our proprietary Drone Aerial Data solutions, TerraData can better serve our customers’ unique needs more efficiently and economically. There is no organization with more experience in providing measurement services to the mining and aggregates industry in the SE United States than TerraData Unmanned.

Aerial Mapping

Using drones for aerial data capture can improve productivity by more than 200%. Drone- based mapping is quicker, safer, more cost- effective, and provides higher resolution data than traditional survey methods. The applications are endless. You can utilize this service for project planning, contractor tracking, inventory management, and drainage planning, just to name a few.

Our proprietary platform and process can turn hundreds to thousands of images into high precision 2D maps, 3D models, Digital Elevation Models, and virtual reconstruction flythroughs. TerraData’s methods of collection reduce expensive, time-consuming field work and provide the customer with the much- needed analytics, quickly and accurately.

FASTER COLLECTION

A two-man team of surveyors can collect hundreds of data points in a day. A drone can collect up to a million data points in minutes. Utilizing TerraData’s proprietary system, an area of 50 acres or more can be surveyed in 30 minutes or less with a resolution or Ground Sampling Distance (GSD) of less than 2 cm per pixel. You can have all of the data that you need within days, not weeks.

INCREASED SAFETY

In addition to the time saved and the incredible increase in accuracy, exposure to hazardous environments is minimized. You can simply schedule the service, and our MSHA certified team will be on-site for no more than an hour, thus eliminating the risk of having a survey team on location all day climbing stockpiles around moving equipment.

REPORTING EFFICIENCY

Aerial data captures millions of data points during a flight, geotagging each image taken. Once uploaded into a reliable software solution, the images can be processed and referenced with ground control points (GCPs) or using the drone’s positioning data. This data can be used to create a high-resolution 3D model, an orthophoto of the site, or a Digital Elevation Model, which can then be imported into CAD software for further use.
